Finishing - High Def Tape to Film

  1. Shoot HD Tape in Camera using SRW, D5, HD Cam or DVC Pro HD
  2. Downconvert HD tapes to Digi Beta, Beta Sp, DV Cam, DV, or VHS
  3. Rent or buy an off line non-linear editing system (Avid, Final Cut Pro, Premiere, etc)
  4. Input (digitize) the video tapes into the editing system
  5. Spend as much time as needed to make creative decisions and edit the material into the final edited version. No cutting is actually done since all the information is on a hard drive. Slug out sections (leave space holders) for effects and titles.
  6. Create Effects, Supers, Titles, etc on HD tape format. Downconvert these elements and input into the edit system.
  7. Output an Edit Decision List (EDL) from the edit system that represents the final editing decisions.
  8. Give the EDL, original HD Camera Tapes, & HD Effects to an on-line editing session. During an auto-conform editing session the a final HD Master will be created that matches the final edit.
  9. Do a tape to tape color correct session
  10. Layback finished audio to HD tape master
  11. Make a Film Out Film Negative (HD Video to a Film Negative)
  12. Make a sound track master by creating or improving the dialog, effects & music. Sync the audio to the video. Make an Optical Negative Sound Track
  13. From Film Out Negative and Optical Neg Track make a Composite Check Print
  14. After approval of the Check Print, make Release Prints
